About the Upper Makefield Historical Society

Upper Makefield Historical Society has been an organization of volunteers, operating with a Board holding monthly meetings in members’ homes.   All property and archival inventory has been stored in closets, basements, attics, garages and  barns,  and wherever someone has been willing to give up space.

We are currently embarking on a program to enhance the proper storage and preservation of our limited inventory.  To help us build this inventory, as you clean out your attic, sift through things left from a family estate, try to decide what to do with “old” things you have been storing for a long time, keep the Historical    Society   in  mind   as  a  recipient  of  old
pictures, documents, manuscripts, maps, books, articles or other items.  Treasures dealing with the history of Upper Makefield Township would be a welcome addition to our Archives.

A HOME OF OUR OWN has been a dream of the Society since its inception.  We would like to find a permanent facility to provide the public with an archival display, a research library, a museum.  A location close to the Washington Crossing State Park would provide easy access for visitors who are interested in information about the area surrounding the Park.

Your support and assistance are needed as we work to preserve our priceless heritage.
