Why attend the Seufert Art Studio?

QUALITY INSTRUCTION
Robert and Alice Seufert have over 50 years combined teaching experience, both are professional working artists, (Click here to see Robert's Bio or Here to see Alice's Bio) who have managed to combine their skills as fine art artists as well as teachers to achieve the highest level of proficiency at both.

OUR HISTORY

The Seufert Art Studio was founded in 1972 by Robert J. Seufert.  Thousands of children, teens and adults have passed through our doors since those beginning years, with a great deal of joy and satisfaction expressed.  In 1982, Robert's future wife, Alice, a certified art teacher, began teaching at the studio, primarily working with children.  Over the years, we have developed many courses with lesson plans which nurture both growth and enjoyment of the fine arts for young and old.

THE FACILITY
This facility, with a 500 square foot teaching area, was designed to be an art studio.  It is beautifully lighted and the atmosphere is conductive to great learning.
Parking is easy because we have also constructed a well illuminated parking lot for our customers.

CONVENIENT CLASS TIMES
Classes for children are conducted after school hours, in the evening and on Saturdays during the school year. During the summer, class times are held during the day and in the evenings during the week.
Adult classes are held during the day and during the evenings during the week. Saturday classes are also available.

SMALL CLASS SIZE
No class has more than eleven students and some adult classes have as few as eight.  This affords each student a very sufficient level of individual attention.

REASONABLE TUITIONS
Many people who contact our studio are pleased to hear how affordable our courses are.  They are even more satisfied when they see the total dedication to each student and the quality of the instruction.

YEAR-ROUND INSTRUCTION
Robert and Alice Seufert teach 4 semesters a year. Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. Most semesters are for ten (10) weeks, depending on the course.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
We are five minutes from the Oxford Valley Mall, Langhorne, PA and very close to three large shopping centers in Falls Township, Bucks County, PA

CAREERS IN ART
Your child's future may include art as a career.  After having studied with us, many of our students have gone on to very successful careers in art.  Some have received full or partial scholarships to professional art schools and universities.  Many of our adult students come back year after year to illustrate their satisfaction.  We are proud of all our students.

Art Instruction

YOUNGER CHILDREN'S PROGRAM

We accept children as young as eight years of age and we bracket the younger student's classes from that age up to approximately twelve years of age.  In this age group, we offer a wide variety of lesson plans ranging from traditional fine art drawing and painting of subjects like still life, portraiture, scenery, etc., to three dimensional projects in clay, to cartooning, to commercial art assignments.  As well as developing stronger drawing skills, we also emphasize creativity and self-expression.  Every lesson plan is well thought out, appropriate for this age level, challenging, yet enjoyable and rewarding.  Media includes pencil, charcoal, pastel, W/C, ink, clay, etc. (all materials safe for young children)  Classes are one hour and 15 minutes in length.  Classes are restricted to 11 students maximum, so we can give individual attention to each student.

TEEN PROGRAM

Our second age bracket begins at approximately twelve to thirteen years of age and goes up through senior high school students.  These courses are structured chronologically beginning with three foundation drawing courses.  These courses include the basic nuts and bolts of how to draw in pencil, charcoal, ink, color pencil and pastel.  Subject matter includes still life, portraiture, architecture, cartooning, basic color and design, etc.
Once our students have successfully completed these prerequisite courses, they may choose from a number of advanced workshop courses.  These courses are designed so that a student may concentrate on one area of study in the visual arts.

Courses include: Portraiture, caricature, animal anatomy, watercolor painting, oil painting, clay sculpture, graphic design and illustration, super heroes, graphics, cartooning, chalk media, realistic drawing and more.  Classes are 1½ hours in length.  Class size is a maximum of 11 students.

PORTFOLIO PREPARATION COURSES
These courses are designed specifically for Juniors and Seniors in High School who are looking to pursue a career in art or art education.  Students concentrate on improving their skills at all levels of the visual arts.  Emphasis is placed on drawing from life, creativity and design aspects.  Assistance is given to students who must fulfill specific requirements for certain schools.  Current and past students are and have been accepted by many of the top rated art schools and universities in the country. Classes are 1½ hours in length.  Maximum class size is 11.

ADULT PROGRAM
When an adult approaches us to take classes, we immediately determine what their skill level is by either verbally asking what experience they have had or we review their work.  If they are a beginner or someone who has been away from art for a long time, we request that they take some drawing courses before they attempt to paint.
Our adult drawing program is similar to our teen foundation drawing courses.  They are meant to provide a greater understanding of and appreciation for some of the basic elements that support a successful painting.  Classes are one and a half to two hours in length.  Class size is a maximum of 11 students.

ADULT AND TEEN WATERCOLOR
This course begins with a lecture and demonstration of the basics of watercolor.  Flat and gradated washes, wet into wet applications and dry brushing are among the elements covered in the early weeks.  Soon thereafter students are painting pictures using these learned techniques.  Subsequent courses are designed to improve the students range of ability.  Classes are one and a half to two hours in length. Maximum class size is 11.

OIL PAINTING (ADULTS AND TEENS)
Students who take oil painting learn the basics of how to work in this forgiving medium.  Adults and teens are encouraged to select a variety of easy subjects at first, to help build their confidence.  As with all other courses, students are taught an understanding of their materials.  Brush and painting knife techniques are explained.  Oil courses range in time from one and a half hours to two hours.  Classes are limited to 8 students.
