Alice Olson Seufert received her Bachelor of Fine
Arts Degree from Temple University's Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park,
PA, graduating Cum Laude. She also received teacher certification from
Tyler School of Art. Alice was fortunate to have been a student of the
internationally recognized artist, Alan Magee of Maine and
also Chuck Schmidt, watercolorist from Pennsylvania. Both
artist have greatly influenced her art and her method of teaching.
While working professionally as a full time artist with her husband
Robert and sharing a studio in Bucks County, PA with him, Alice
Olson Seufert also teaches fine art drawing, commercial art
classes and water color classes part time to over one hundred students,
both children and adults. Ms. Seufert has been teaching for over 20
years.
Alice Olson Seufert works primarily in
watercolor but also has recently begun to work in oils after a
long hiatus. She also enjoys rendering in pastel. Her subject matter
includes paintings of antique dolls, flower studies and landscape.
Painting the human element, including studies of her three children is a
labor of love.
Alice paints her watercolors with tremendous
attention to detail. Working in a series of layers of to build up
value, color and texture, her watercolors are extremely realistic and
almost photographic. She has executed a number of portrait commissions
in both pastel and watercolor. Included in these commissions is one of
Molly Woods, the founder of the Woods Schools in
Langhorne, PA
Juried shows include Phillips Mill in Solebury, PA,
the Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia, PA and the
Doylestown Art League in Doylestown, PA
Alice Olson Seufert's work is exhibited at the
Canal Frame - Craft Gallery in Washington Crossing, PA.
She also displays her work at her shared studio in Bucks County, PA.
Outdoor exhibits include the Gracie Square Art Show in New
York city.
