Framing textiles requires a different
approach than framing a canvas or work of art on paper. All textiles must be
“stretch mounted”. Delicate items like antique samplers may require sewing
where a new, counted cross stitch may be pinned or stapled. Needlepoint almost
always needs to be blocked to square it up and relax the threads before it can
be stretched. Whatever the textile, the proper mounting method is required for
preservation and presentation. We never use glues, tapes, or ‘sticky boards’
which can permanently stain needle art. UV blocking glass is highly recommended
on all needlework for protection from light and other environmental elements.
