Letter from the Commander

This year there will be a Memorial Day Service at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 25 at Council Rock North H.S. Please arrive by 8:30 AM.

This yearís Memorial Service will be held at the Newtown Presbyterian Church, 25 North Chancellor St. in Newtown on May 27th at 9:00 AM. We will muster outside the church at 8:45 AM. We will then go back to the Post by 1:00 PM to set up for Mondayís Parade.

Uniform of the day for both the church service and the Council Rock North Ceremony is blue blazer, white shirt, grey trousers and Legion tie. Lacking these, a white shirt and Legion cap works just fine. Attendance is more important. Our guest speaker this year is Navy Chief Sherry Jones.

Memorial Day Parade muster is at 8:30 on Monday, May 28 at the Newtown Commons, as usual. Parade Marshall is our own Frank Jankowski and Fred Beans is our guest speaker. Rifle squad muster is 7:00 AM at the Post.

Any member who is in need of a ride should see Pat Higgins at muster. We will have the Irish cottage to transport members. NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO TRANSPORTATION FROM THE POST TO THE COMMONS WEST BUILDING.

All those who have put flags out for Memorial Day in the cemeteries (16) each year are requested to call the Commander for this year. Anyone wishing to volunteer to place flags on the graves of our brothers and sisters is requested to call the Commander as well.

If you havenít signed up for the new Post Email Blast site, please do so. (Just respond to the email Ė look in your spam or junk box if you canít find it. It is from Google Groups). It is our best way to communicate any Legion activities that come up between meetings.

Call the Commander if you intend to attend the 9th District Meeting Dinner.
